First Communion Class
First Communion Class is offered to 5th and 6th grade students preparing for the celebration of Holy Communion. Holy Communion is a gift from God! As with any gift that God bestows, it is given with no strings attached, there is nothing we can do that makes us more or less worthy to receive the gift. When you or your child receives a gift, it is natural to want to know all about what it is, how it works, and what to do with it.
Holy Communion is also called "The Lord's Supper" in many congregations. We teach that Holy Communion is the meal of grace that God uses to reassure, renew, and strengthen us in our relationship with him. It is also a sign and means of our unity and fellowship with other believers. We teach that in and with the bread and wine of this Sacrament we receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. God fills us with the life and presence of Christ through this precious meal. We are to receive this Sacrament with a believing heart, trusting that God loves and forgives us more than we can imagine, and more than we deserve.
If you use your mouth to say, “Jesus is Lord,” and you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from death, then you will be saved. Romans 10:9
