Mrs. Carel, Music Teacher
As a Christian role model to all the students from Preschool to 5th grade, I teach music to develop the whole child. Music develops the child physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Christ in Education is fundamental, as I teach Praise songs and hymns in my music curriculum. I love teaching the students worship in Chapel and Sunday services through singing, dancing, drama, and playing instruments.
In music class, my students not only learn the National Standards required in a music curriculum, they also learn communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. My students learn confidence and self-esteem through praising Christ and letting his or her light shine towards others.
I am a lifelong church member of Christ the Cornerstone Lutheran Church and the mother of two boys that have attended Christ the Cornerstone Academy since they were three years old.
I graduated from the SDSU School of Music and Dance with a Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Performance. I have performed in the SDSU Opera Theatre, Christian Community Theatre, and the La Jolla Stage Company. I am a member of the San Diego American Orff-Schulwerk Association, training in music pedagogy.
In 1993, I was a Preschool teacher for Christ the Cornerstone Academy and I became the Christ the Cornerstone Church Worship Director in 1999. I became Christ the Cornerstone Academy’s music teacher in 2007. I am also a member of the JLY (Jesus Loves You) Movement Praise Band.
