Mrs. Defensor, 3rd Grade Teacher
Teaching third grade to CTCA students, Christina’s favorite subject is reading because it is essential and she enjoys teaching kids how to write stories. Attending Mesa Jr. College and National University, she earned an Associate Degree in Child Development, a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Studies, and a Masters in Education.
Working in the educational field for over 14 years, Christina became a teacher because it was her passion since she was in 6th grade. She wanted to help kids and give them a love for learning. Christina attended CTCA for Preschool and Kindergarten where she now teaches First Grade.
What is Christina’s philosophy of education? “To build a classroom environment where all students feel safe and secure. I bring teachable moments into my lesions so students can see how a topic relates to the world around them. I believe in courtesy, consideration of others, and mutual respect to be key elements in any class environment. I enjoy coming to work each day to see the passion for learning in my students, and know I am helping to set the building blocks for the love of learning in them for years to come.”
When asked what her favorite bible passage or verse is (and what it means to her), Christina answered “Psalm 118:1, Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. This verse shows the Lord knows what is best for us and gives us what we need when he knows the right time.”
An interesting fact about Christina, most people may not know, is that she comes from a large family.
Some of Christina’s hobbies include taking family to Disneyland, riding the train to Santa Barbara, and spending weekends in Palm Springs. She is married and has three sons.
