Mrs. Hathaway, 2nd Grade Teacher

AC - 1st Grade - Defensor.jpg

My name is Patricia Hathaway, but I go by Patty. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, the fifth child out of six. I was not raised in the church, but went to Sunday school occasionally with friends.  After graduating in 1976 from Oregon State University with a degree in Journalism, God called me to San Diego where He became my Lord and Savior. A year later I met a wonderful man from Michigan named Tim, and we were married. We raised four boys and have four small grandchildren.  We attended Calvary Chapel for many years, then Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and ended up in Mission Valley Christian Fellowship.

After my youngest was in preschool, I went back to college and received my teaching credential from Point Loma University in 1992. I have been a teacher since 1993. I've taught fourth through sixth grades during the academic year and kindergarten through sixth grade for several years in summer school. My favorite subject to teach is Science where I encourage the students to engage in many hands-on activities and explorations. I have always loved to read and write, and I strive to incorporate these skills into many lessons. God's truths form the foundation of my instruction. I believe no learning is complete without knowing God's design and plan within the topic being studied. My prayer is that each of your children will leave my class with a strong foundational basis on which to build their academic future as well as having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
